Hey there, reader! This is Jimmy, Pizza Party Printing co-owner, artist, and resident horror movie nerd supreme! We're just six weeks away from my favorite holiday of all time:
Halloween and I've decided to list off 6 of my favorite underrated horror movies that never fail to get me in the mood for cooler weather, falling leaves, and all the ghouls to come out!
This week is one of my favorite Italian zombie sleaze-fests ever created, 1981's Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror. Equal parts bonkers and disgusting, Burial Ground is
way more than your standard shambling gut-muncher. A group of "young" and "cool" people go off to a mansion for a weekend of rest, relaxation, and awkward sex-scenes, but wouldn't ya know it when they get there they get eaten by zombies! But what this movie has going for it isn't so much the plot but it's bizarre atmosphere, plenty of good kills and gore, some surprisingly neat looking zombies, and a 30-year-old man playing a 9-year old boy named Michael with some solid dialogue (
"Mother, this cloth smells of death!"). This movie is a ton of fun, and perfect for watching with a group of friends and some cold beers. I give it my highest rating: 5 chewed-off nipples out of 5!
And if you're in the Baltimore area on
Thursday, October 6th, swing by Mondo Baltimore where they'll be showing the movie on the (2) big(ish) screens!
